KeyCheats

MCP server — AI-accessible tools

KeyCheats ships an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server: AI assistants like Claude or Cursor can search the shortcut dataset, check shortcut lists for duplicate bindings and render keycaps — same tested logic as the site, no reimplementation.

The tools run the site's own pure functions against the same curated dataset (VS Code, macOS, Windows, Chrome, GitHub). Execution happens on the AI client's machine via npx — nothing is sent to our servers.

Requires Node.js 18+. The server runs locally over stdio; only the tool calls you make are computed on your machine.

Executable tools (3)

shortcut_searchSearch a curated dataset of 129 keyboard shortcuts for VS Code, macOS, Windows, Chrome and GitHub. Matches label, description and keys. Returns app, category, label, description and the keys for both macOS and Windows. Sequence keys (e.g. GitHub "G then B") are listed in order.
shortcut_conflictsGiven a list of shortcut declarations (one per line, keys first with optional label, e.g. 'Ctrl+Shift+P Command palette' or '⌘C Copy'), detect duplicate bindings. Case-insensitive, key-order-insensitive, labels ignored; modifier names and symbols normalize together (⌘ == Cmd == Ctrl). Unparseable lines are reported, not ignored silently.
render_shortcutRender one keyboard shortcut as HTML keycaps (<kbd class="keycap">…</kbd>, safe to embed) and as formatted text in Mac style (⌘⇧P) or Windows style (Ctrl+Shift+P). Purely local string handling.

Requires Node.js 18+. The server runs locally over stdio; only the tool calls you make are computed on your machine.
